TEMPO advocates for all women, yet we recognize we have more work to do to create an inclusive environment and cultivate a sense of belonging among members. We also have an opportunity - and an obligation - to harness the power of the TEMPO network to create change both within our organization and within the community. One way we are doing so is by holding TEMPO Real Talks sessions around racism, white privilege, implicit bias and other topics that have been avoided for far too long. Join us on the first Thursdays of July, October, February and April for these events.

By attending TEMPO Real Talks, members can expect to:

  • Be met where they are - no judgement zone.
  • Be provided the space and grace to refresh around tough topics.
  • Listen and contribute to authentic and real conversations.
  • Flex vulnerability and courage.

This series was introduced following the murder of George Floyd in May 2020, when we encouraged our members to "just show up" for a courageous discussion. We also hosted a monthly group discussion of each chapter of "White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Race" by Robin DiAngelo, led by a TEMPO or EWL member. Additionally, in April 2021, TEMPO participated in the third annual "Day of Understanding" an event created by CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ to help address bias in the workplace and society. The TEMPO Real Talks series is just one approach TEMPO is taking on its journey to create an environment of inclusion and belonging where ALL members' differences and perspectives are supported and valued.
