Our TEMPO Professional Development Series continues in March when we explore how to "Build A Personal Board of Directors - Your Strategic Advantage" with featured speaker Laura Orr of Forward Consulting. When professionals invest the thought, time and intention required to build a personal Board of Directors, the process can be transformational - supporting everything from modest behavioral change to strategic career change - and everything in between. This session will define a personal board directors as well as explore the importance and impact building one can have on your professional and personal growth. This session will address how a personal board of directors can provide support, grow your skills, open doors and expand your network, coach and challenge you, advocate for you and finally, hold you accountable. This informative event will also answer the questions of "How do I select my personal Board of Directors? Once I build it, how do I maximize the benefit and impact of my personal Board of Directors? 

Finally, we will put these concepts in action by showcasing a real-world personal Board of Directors within TEMPO. We will hear from this group of TEMPO members who have found their personal Board of Directors through their TEMPO Mentor Circle. How are these women advocating, elevating and encouraging one another through the celebrations, challenges and opportunities they are navigating both in their professional and personal lives? How can others apply similar concepts whether within their own Mentor Circle - or beyond? 

About Our Speaker: 
Laura Orr is the Founder and CEO of Forward Consulting, a firm dedicated to helping executive leaders and governing bodies drive organizational success. Laura is an accomplished executive leader with nearly two decades of operations, strategic planning, and board governance experience and she has deep expertsie in facilitation and leadership coaching.

Laura partners with executives and boards in three areas: Governance Excellence, Strategy Development and Executive Coaching. Laura works with executives and boards across many sectors including healthcare, higher education, arts, and community organizations, providing expert consultation in governance effectiveness and strategy development. She offers a suite of services tailored to her clients' needs including governance assessments, board development plans, strategic planning and executive coaching. 

Prior to founding Forward Governance Consulting, Laura served as the Chief Strategy and Governance Officer for Children's Wisconsin, where she led strategic planning for the health system and was responsible for successfully transforming governance practices to drive strategic value. 

Laura serves on the Board of Directors of First Stage Children's Theatre, where she also chairs the Governance Committee. She is also Chair of the Board of Directors of the Betty Brinn Children's Museum.
