TEMPO Research Finds Workplace Barriers Threaten Milwaukee’s Female Talent Pipeline

TEMPO's Voices of Women at Work: The Milwaukee Experience study reveals that the conversation about women in leadership is far from a celebration — it's an urgent call to action. A survey of executive and emerging women leaders conducted in February 2026, found that 41% of respondents have considered leaving Milwaukee for better professional opportunities. Caregiving demands (43%), burnout (39%), and sponsorship gaps were identified as top barriers to advancement.

The findings carry significant implications for Milwaukee's talent pipeline and economic competitiveness — especially as the region works to attract and retain top talent.
